The short answer
Keukenhof, the tulip gardens in Lisse near Amsterdam, is open from 18 March to 9 May 2027, daily from 8 AM to 7 PM. Entry is by timed ticket, bought online in advance: €21 for an adult (about ₹2,300), or €27 at the gate.
All three of Party Passport's spring 2027 Europe departures are in Amsterdam inside that window: 31 March – 2 April on two of them and 28 – 30 April on the third. Keukenhof is not a scheduled group activity and isn't in the package price, but there's a day on each trip where it fits.
Keukenhof 2027 tickets
| Ticket | Online | At the gate |
|---|---|---|
| Adult | €21 (~₹2,300) | €27 (~₹3,000) |
| Child, 4–18 | €11 (~₹1,200) | €15 (~₹1,650) |
| Under 4 | Free | Free |
- Tickets are for a date and an arrival time. There's a daily visitor cap, so weekends and late April sell out first.
- Combi tickets (entry + bus) go on sale around mid-January. Last season these were around €38.50 per adult (~₹4,250), per third-party guides. If you're going on your own, this is the easiest option.
- Buy only from keukenhof.nl or a seller it links to. Resold "skip the line" tickets at a big markup are common around the season.
Does your spring Europe trip catch the tulips?
Here's where each of our spring 2027 departures is in Amsterdam, the day that fits a Keukenhof visit best, and what's likely to be in bloom.
31 Mar – 11 Apr 2027
Central Europe: Amsterdam to Budapest
In Amsterdam: 31 Mar – 2 Apr (leave for Berlin 3 Apr)
Best fit: Day 3, Fri 2 Apr — the countryside day
Early season. Expect daffodils, hyacinths, crocuses and the first tulips outdoors, with the big indoor flower shows in the pavilions. Full tulip fields are usually a couple of weeks later.
28 Mar – 8 Apr 2027
Central Europe: Paris to Prague
In Amsterdam: 31 Mar – 2 Apr (arrive from Paris on 31 Mar, leave for Berlin 3 Apr)
Best fit: Day 6, Fri 2 Apr — the countryside day
Same window as above: early season, more daffodils and hyacinths than tulips outdoors, plus the indoor shows.
28 Apr – 9 May 2027
Central Europe: Amsterdam to Budapest
In Amsterdam: 28 – 30 Apr (leave for Berlin 1 May)
Best fit: Day 3, Fri 30 Apr — the countryside day
Late April is historically when tulips are at or near their peak. It's also the busiest stretch of the season, so book the earliest time slot you can.
Why the countryside day? On both trips the third Amsterdam day is "Dutch Countryside — Windmills & Wandering": a relaxed morning, then an outing to Zaanse Schans with your Trip Leader. The itinerary already offers Volendam or Edam as self-guided alternatives, so it's the one day built for going your own way. Keukenhof works the same way: your own ticket, your own bus, and you'd skip the Zaanse Schans walk. The other Amsterdam days are full (arrival and the canal cruise, then the Heineken Experience and the city walking tour).
Want more time? If you're on the Amsterdam to Budapest trip, you can fly in a day early and do Keukenhof before Day 1. The gardens are close to Schiphol. Note that on the 28 April departure the day before is 27 April, King's Day, when Amsterdam turns into one giant orange street party, so book that extra night early.
Getting there from Amsterdam
Keukenhof is in Lisse, about 35–40 km south-west of central Amsterdam. During the season, express buses run from Amsterdam RAI (Europaplein), which is a short metro ride from the centre, and from the Schiphol area. The bus takes roughly 30–40 minutes. Routes and stops can change from year to year, so check the official site's travel page when you book.
Plan on half a day: around 3–4 hours in the gardens plus travel. Arrive at opening (8 AM) or after about 3 PM to avoid the tour-bus crowds in the middle of the day.
Tips for first-timers from India
- Dress for spring that feels like winter. Late March and April in the Netherlands is usually around 10–14°C in the day and close to freezing on some early mornings, with wind and showers. Bring a warm jacket and a rain layer.
- Don't skip the pavilions. Early in the season, when not every tulip bed outside is open, the indoor flower shows are where the colour is.
- The fields outside are private farms. The famous striped tulip fields around Lisse belong to bulb growers. Photograph them from the road or a path, and don't walk into the rows.
- The Flower Parade is on 17 April 2027. The Bloemencorso Bollenstreek, with floats covered in flowers, runs from Noordwijk to Haarlem past Lisse. It falls between our departures, so none of our groups are in Amsterdam for it.
- Sort your Schengen visa early. Spring is a busy season at visa centres. Our Schengen visa guide covers the documents and process; for a late-March departure, aim to book your appointment by early January.
Season dates, opening hours and ticket prices checked on 29 October 2026 on keukenhof.nl. Flower Parade date from bloemencorso-bollenstreek.nl. Bus routes and combi-ticket prices come from third-party guides for the 2026 season. Rupee figures are rough, at about ₹110 to the euro. Bloom timing depends on the weather each year.
FAQ
When is Keukenhof open in 2027?
From Thursday 18 March to Sunday 9 May 2027, every day from 8 AM to 7 PM, including Sundays and holidays. The ticket office and entry close at 6:15 PM. These dates are on the official site, keukenhof.nl.
How much is a Keukenhof ticket in rupees?
The official site lists adult tickets at €21 online, about ₹2,300 at roughly ₹110 to the euro, and €27 (about ₹3,000) at the ticket office. Children aged 4–18 are €11 online and under-4s are free. Add the bus from Amsterdam, which is usually sold as a combi ticket with entry; that was around €38.50 per adult last season according to third-party guides, about ₹4,250 all in.
Do I need to book Keukenhof tickets in advance?
Yes, realistically. Tickets are for a specific date and arrival time slot, there is a daily visitor cap, and buying online is cheaper than at the gate. For a weekend or late-April visit, book as soon as you know your Amsterdam dates. The combi ticket with bus transport goes on sale around mid-January, per the official site.
Is Keukenhof included in the Party Passport spring Europe trips?
No. Keukenhof is not part of the group itinerary on either spring 2027 Europe trip, and the ticket and transport aren't in the package price. The day that fits it best is the Dutch countryside day, which already offers self-guided alternatives to the Zaanse Schans outing with your Trip Leader. Tell us when you book if you plan to go, so your Trip Leader can help you plan it.
Will the tulips be in bloom in early April?
Partly. Blooming depends on the weather each year, but in late March and early April Keukenhof is usually more daffodils, hyacinths and crocuses outdoors, with early tulips and the indoor pavilion shows. Mid-to-late April is when most guides put the tulip peak. Our 28 April departure is in Amsterdam closer to that peak; the two late-March departures are there in the early season.
How far is Keukenhof from Amsterdam?
Keukenhof is in Lisse, about 35–40 km south-west of central Amsterdam and close to Schiphol airport. Express buses run during the season from Amsterdam RAI (Europaplein) and from the Schiphol area, taking roughly 30–40 minutes, plus your metro or tram ride to the bus stop.
Do I need a separate visa for Keukenhof?
No extra visa. Keukenhof is in the Netherlands, which is in the Schengen area, so the Schengen visa you need for the trip covers it. Spring is a busy time at visa centres, so book your appointment early.
